1.) In the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins) is sentenced to two life sentences in the Shawshank Prison. Although Andy is innocent, he goes to jail and immediately is notice by a fellow inmate, Red. While in prison for 19 years he becomes a well known inmate by proving himself to other inmates. But right when Andy seems to get on the Wardens good ultimately a story about friendship and hope.

2.) This is a classic that I have been putting off watching for a long time. I now understand why it is on countless top 100 lists. It's a story that I don' think will ever age. This is due to its story by Stephen King and phenomenal acting by Tim Robbin and Morgan Freeman. It's a story of human strength and connection that is universal. I think thats what makes this film so successful, even though this film is set in an extreme scenario it touches on such basic human feelings that anyone can relate to it. I put Forest Gump as probably the greatest story in film, and this is easily in a new top 5 for me based on strictly story. One thing I especially noticed while this film was the transitions from scene to scene. They seemed effortless, a lot of the time these transitions would be achieved with a similar object being in the shot. For example the Warden gives Andy a Pie in his office and then it cuts to Andy with Red in the Library talking about a totally different thing but it is connected by the Pie. The only thing I noticed wrong with the movie (it was small) was when the old library guy was holding a knife to another inmates neck. And it is cut and bleeding and then it cuts to a different shot and then it cuts back to the knife shot and there is no blood. Overall this was a great film.

3.) I would recommend this film because it is simply a classic. It touches on human strength and good friendship, which are universal stories. Andy and Reds development throughout the film is spectacular. It's a film that makes you feel hopeful.
